This Privacy Policy explains how StoryWhisper ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use story-whisper.com and our personalized audio story service (the "Service"). We've written it to be plain and honest.

1. Information we collect

When you create a story and place an order, we collect:

• Story details you enter — a child's first name and pronunciation, age range, interests, traits, the lesson you choose, an optional note about what's happening at home, a sidekick, a chosen narrator voice, and an optional dedication.
• Contact and order information — your email address, the name you give for the dedication, your order details and delivery preference.
• Payment information — processed directly by Stripe. We receive a confirmation and limited details (such as the last four digits and card brand); we never receive or store your full card number.
• Usage and device data — basic analytics about how the site is used (pages viewed, funnel steps, approximate location, device/browser), collected via cookies and similar technologies.

2. How we use your information

• To create, produce, and deliver your personalized story.
• To process payments, send receipts, and provide order updates and support.
• To send transactional emails (receipt, "your story is being crafted", delivery, and refund notices).
• To measure and improve the Service, and to understand which marketing works.
• To prevent fraud and abuse and to comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information. The details you provide about a child are used only to generate and deliver that child's story.

3. Service providers we share with

We share information with trusted providers only as needed to run the Service. These include:

• Stripe — payment processing.
• OpenAI — story text and cover-image generation.
• ElevenLabs — audio narration, music, and sound generation.
• Resend — sending order and delivery emails.
• Cloudflare — website delivery, security, and DNS.
• Google Analytics and Meta — to measure site usage and ad performance (where applicable, using hashed identifiers).

Each provider processes data under its own terms and only for the purposes above.

4. Advertising and analytics

We use cookies and pixels (including Google Analytics and the Meta Pixel/Conversions API) to understand traffic and to measure advertising. Where we share conversion data for ad measurement, contact identifiers such as email are hashed. You can control cookies through your browser settings, and opt out of certain ad personalization through the relevant provider's controls.

5. Children's privacy

The Service is purchased and operated by adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. A parent or guardian provides a child's first name and a few details solely so we can personalize that child's story. If you believe a child has provided us information directly, please contact us and we will delete it.

6. Data retention

We keep order records, the details used to create your story, and the finished files for as long as needed to deliver the product, provide support, honor our guarantee, and meet legal and accounting requirements. You may ask us to delete your information (see below), subject to records we must retain by law.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the email on your order. We will respond within a reasonable time.

8. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit (HTTPS) and reputable processors. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your data and limit access to it.

9. International users

We operate from the United States, and our providers may process data in the U.S. and other countries. By using the Service, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We'll revise the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, take reasonable steps to notify you.
